If you are a beginner or novice there is everything you need to achieve success, resulting in healthy and active lifestyle! Change rooms and lockers are available for daily use, just bring your own lock.

Fitness Centre Equipment:

4 treadmills, 5 elliptical, 2 steppers, 6 stationary bikes, 10 weight machines, lateralx and a rower. Cardiovascular equipment offers customizable exercise programs. Other small equipment available are free weights, exercise balls, skipping ropes, medicine balls and varied aerobics equipment. Four TV monitors with cable TV and Wi-Fi included.

Fitness Centre Orientation:

This short orientation is helpful for our patrons to get acquainted with the equipment in our fitness centre along with learning how to basically and safely operate this state of the art equipment. Youth 13 – 15 years old are required to have an orientation so they have the knowledge needed to keep themselves and others safe.

Rick Williamson
Personal Trainer BIO – Rick Williamson is a Personal Training Specialist and has been working with clients and doing gym orientations for the Stride Place. He enjoys helping people achieve their fitness goals, whether it be one on one in the gym or designing a program tailored to the fitness level, commitment and needs of the client.

EDUCATION – Rick received his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education Degrees from Brandon University. He taught junior high language arts for four years and then was a high school mathematics teacher in Portage la Prairie for twenty nine years before retiring on 2005. He now teaches Non Violent Crisis Intervention for Red River College in Portage la Prairie and Winkler. He has a wealth of experience in teaching and motivating people as they move to the next level of their chosen field.

CERTIFICATION – He received his Personal Training Specialist certification from the Canadian Fitness Professionals group which is also known as Can-Fit-Pro.

EXPERTISE & EXPERIENCE – Rick has been involved in Martial Arts for most of his life and has dedicated a great deal of time and effort in training, competing and teaching. He was recently promoted to a Seventh Degree Black Belt in Jishin Do Jiu-jitsu. This is the Master Level and he is the only one in Canada to hold the rank. He will soon be inducted into the Brandon University Sports Hall of Fame. He won the middleweight division for the Western Canadian University Judo Championship in 1971 & 1974. He is the only one in the history of Brandon University to achieve this award. He also has competed nationally and internationally in Judo and has represented Manitoba in the middleweight division at The Canadian National Judo Championships and the Canada Winter Games. He specializes in motivating his students to push through their perceived boundaries and to develop the extremely high level of commitment and discipline required to be successful to obtain their Black Belt. Through the same type of commitment and discipline Rick will be able to help you achieve your fitness goals!
